Welcome

Kasie Ford Capling, exemplified intelligence, competitiveness, compassion and beauty. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, co-worker, leader, and a devoted friend. She is remembered as someone dear, someone that made everyone feel as if they were the most important person in the world. In every conversation, she had the amazing ability to remember what was most important to you! Whether it had been days, weeks, or even months since your last visit, she was the type of person that when you saw her again you could pick up right where you left off, almost as if not one second had lapsed. She lived every day to the fullest and with no regrets. She had a wonderful skill of finding new and exciting ways to do the same old thing. Kasie was the kind of family or friend we all want to have and we all want to be. She possessed true character and an unmatched dedication. Characteristics like these were what enabled her to touch so many lives and develop so many cherished friendships both personally and professionally. The bonds she created during her time with each of us will never be rivaled or broken. To know Kasie was to like Kasie. We truly love her, miss her, and admire the legacy she left behind.

Kasie Ford Capling was born Kasie Rae Ford on November 26th 1972 to her proud parents Bobby Ray Ford and Brenda Wray Nivens Ford in Charlotte North Carolina at Presbyterian Hospital.

Kasie was a 1991 graduate of West Mecklenburg High School. She was class president for all four years, president of Civinettes, a four year member of the basketball, tennis and softball teams, earning all conference and all county in softball several times, member of the yearbook staff and runner-up for Carrousel Princess. Kasie participated in all of these activities and still managed to graduate in the top five of her class. She respected the need for education and decided early in life that she was going to be successful.

In the years that followed West Mecklenburg, Kasie earned a bachelors degree from Appalachian State University where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. After college, she became a respected member and leader in Charlotte’s Information Technology (IT) business community where she earned respect and approval from her peers. At the young age of 28, she became director of a multi-million dollar IT firm managing over 125 people. She was a loving wife, an amazing mother and loved helping others, dedicating many hours to different charities and organizations. She was a founding member of Charlotte Smiles, a local organization made up of lifelong friends who want to help those that are less fortunate in the Charlotte Area.

Kasie married Philip A. Capling Jr. on August 28th, 1999 at Cook’s Memorial Presbyterian Church. Phil & Kasie lived in the 4th Ward neighborhood of uptown Charlotte for five years. On August 1st, 2003 Kasie & Phil welcomed their son, Philip Ford Capling, into the world. Philip was a whopping six pounds eleven ounces. He was immediately nicknamed “Butterbean” by his mommy. In the months that followed Kasie & Phil moved to south Charlotte, where Phil & Philip reside to this day.

On August 21st, 2005 Kasie was admitted to Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. She died of an apparent brain tumor. She had been pregnant and miscarried her daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Capling, on August 26th, 2005.

She was like no other, with a smile that was contagious and a laugh that was genuine. She was simply “Awesome”!!
